As a gesture of kindness to me (and for semi-accomplishing a honey-do list item), the wife accompanied me for a first time ice fishing trip. We set out late, and fished from ~1300-1500. Fished just west of Jerry's Landing, through a pair of holes adjacent to holes I used yesterday. Fished in 11.5ft of water jigging off the bottom. Quite a few fish, lots of sniffers, and ended up catching 3 largemouth (biggest right at 12") and 5 keeper perch (let a few small ones go). I'm really starting to enjoy this lake, especially now that I'm catching more perch and largemouth. Only lure that was effective today was the green/silver 1/8oz kastmaster tipped w/ half a fake maggot. Ice is 8+ inches (4" opaque, 4"+ clear) with 1.5" snow up top.

Way to go Jay. That's nice you could convince your woman to try it out. I am still trying to find the trick to that one. I am hoping to go out every day next week starting tomorrow. Looks like it might get a bit cold though... If you are planning a trip send me a PM or just look for me on the ice.

@aaron42ash - Were you there yesterday? There was a black shack in the middle of a "plowed road" right off the public launch when we showed up. @readers- Correction: the hot lure was a 1/12oz kastmaster.

@bazzdude- I'm actually quite surprised with how effective it's been. It was almost the first lure I'd ever purchased and never fished it for anything. Thought I'd try it this year, and it's been great. Catching perch and surprisingly largemouth (the pickerel love it even more); It's a hoot seeing 'em jump off the bottom in pursuit of it as it flutters down. The fall of it attracts the fish. When you need to draw in a crowd, make big upward strokes and let it fall to almost bottom. When the fish comes up off the bottom and is really taking a hard look, either hold it still or give it the tiniest upward tick and fall. Bam, fish on. I just went out and got four more in different colors; It's my go to lure - at least for Eloika.
