Hit RW around 09:30. Headed up lake to Pump #1 area. Cast jigs and spoons, and caught a small native rainbow (c&r). Headed on up to the lower most pens. Fished there for 2 hours without a single bite, Then worked the shoreline down for 1/4 mile or so. A couple bites, but no takers. We used a variety of lures/colors all to no avail. There were 2 boats trolling, and 2 boats plunking, along with two people fishing off the pen system. No bites that I heard about. Headed back down and hit a few more spots, and was able to hook a fish in the cabin hole, but long release on it. Across from Pump #3, Cindy finally hooked into another small native RB. All in all, it was a slow day as we only had around 6-8 hits in 6 hours of fishing. Beautiful day with temps climbing into the 40 degree mark with eagles and deer for entertainment, and water temp was running 37- or so. The current is still running pretty fast too. Maybe next time there will be pics. Tight lines all.

Lake sure has slowed down a lot. I still feel there are good fishing to come and reports of great days ahead.

It seems like the fishing at RW this year has been on the down side. Seems kind of wierd with all the monthly releases that has been going on the last 3 years. there should be plenty of 5 + pound fish to be had.

Hey loui, great timing on your report as I'm headed out to Roosevelt today. Sorry to hear of slow catchin' though. I have a hard time not going to Rufus this time of year.

elk003, that question comes up often. The fish checkers and gamies haven't given any helpful explainations either. There's been numerous reports of tagged fish being caught in the stretch of Columbia between Chief Joseph and Wells, so maybe a sizable percentage has gone over the dam. Thanks for your comment

Hey Jiggie. Cindy has been under the weather for about a week, and was getting cabin fever. Even without fish, the outing was very benificial.

Hey Lou! That's good. Maybe I canstart catching them down in tri-cites now and save the drive. Hahaha! Serious question tho. Can we still anchor up between the land and the upper pens and still fish, or have they stopped allowing people to do that?

The thing about Rufus is even when no fish it is a beautiful lake to boat on and take pictures. Also just wildlife watching and scenery.

elk003, double posts happen when you refresh the page after making a post. At least that is what has happend to me several times. LOL. As for anchoring between the shoreline and the upper pens, I have "heard" they frown on that now. I have seen folks doing it though, so I guess it depends on who is working at the pens at the time. Also, I have noticed there are now lines/cables running from the pens out into the water towards the shore line. Have even hung up on them when trying to fish in there. So if you try it just look for the lines coming off the pens and make adjustments in how you fish. And it would be cool "for the fishermen" to have the tripps in the system to fish for. I'm sure they would present problems of somekind though.

Hey Loui, I've got two tags from Rufus Woods trout from like November 1 that I had forgotten about and just came across the other day. What would you recomend I do with them? I thought maybe with your experience you may know. Too late? Send them in? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Basser90. Just look the address up on google and drop the tas in an envelope, and include general area, and approx date caught. I feel it may help the overall program if we as fishermen provide some feed back. Thanks for the question
