The orginal plan was to fish Mayfield but due to a late start,I opted for Lake Tapps.
I figured this would be another classic of fine tuning gear and thats about it. Basically, very low expectations. The lake is down several feet and boat launching is very limited,it can probably be done but use extreme caution and pack plenty of patience. I'm not particulary a fan of shore fishing, especially at Tapps due to limited public access. Anyhow, gave it a shot using a Ducktails Lure bucktail(can't recall the specific model name at the moment) Made some long casts into an area loaded with stumps and log debris, within minutes, had my first tiger musky of 2011. A few minutes later and I hooked another but she spit the hook. Oh well, thats how it goes sometimes. A pretty awesome outing in all, especially considering I had no faith at the start of the day.
Best of luck to everyone this season!

Thataboy..did you get any measurements? Heck dude..that coulda been 60" of muskies..what the heck? Good job. Must have been that big moon that got those fish moving. Or you must be a professional shore angler.

I was lucky to get 30 inches out of it. Thanks for the props. Wish I could say I had some knowledge of how to fish them on this particular day but it really came down to dumb luck.

Dumb luck is often a great way to become a great fisherman. You get to learn things without even tryin'. Good on ya.

Thanks Lundegard,I was just shocked. The lake level was so low and the spot I casted to looked nice but didn't expect anything to be there, its a bit note worthy that there were at least 2 tigers of the same size in that particular spot. Certainly have to add that to the fishing log. Water level is slowly rising and I'm told that Lake Tapps will be at full pool by April 15...maybe sooner

I had no clue there was Muskies over here! Dam I used to ski in that lake as a Kid. Now I want to come down there and do some muskie fishing. How long have they been it that lake? Do you fish for them much? what part of the lake were you at?
