6/24/2011 9:06:00 PMA brood trout is a trout that is used in the hatchery for breeding. The game dept will let them go into lakes when the get older The are larger fish with most of the fins tore up and the meat is soft. They can be rainbow or browns in waitts.

6/27/2011 10:48:00 AMAgreed with Mikehut, with one very minor exception. Brood trout can firm up their meat, and if white, they can and will turn red, if they survive long enough without being caught.
