Went to waits lake 06/23/11 fished from 6pm until 9(would have fished longer due to the bite, but didn't have a boat light). Boated 1 brown and 6 rainbows or brood trout( anyone know the difference in appearence). Used a pink/red wedding ring tipped with a worm. Bite was slow until 7 then bonkers. Lost as many as I boated. Slept in my truck overnight then at it again the next morning at 5. Bite was hot again until 6 then very sporatic. Used the same bait, but some gusty wind around 6 shut things down I think. Had an awesome time. Would have been a better time if I had more fishing buddies. Good luck everyone. Sorry didn't have any photos

A brood trout is a trout that is used in the hatchery for breeding. The game dept will let them go into lakes when the get older The are larger fish with most of the fins tore up and the meat is soft. They can be rainbow or browns in waitts.

Agreed with Mikehut, with one very minor exception. Brood trout can firm up their meat, and if white, they can and will turn red, if they survive long enough without being caught.
