Greetings all. This is my first post. I finally fished Rufus Woods for Triploid trout. This was a four day fishing vacation. Our first day was in the afternoon by the fish pen. Using a boat we could see the various fisherman on the bank. From what I can tell, a boat isn't necessary for this fishery. I witnessed fish after fish being caught on the bank.

We decided to head somewhere a little less crowded. We parked farther up stream. The productive fishing was in the depths of 12-20 feet. The outside temp. varied but was in the 80's some days and 70 on out last day. The method we used was simple, main line, snap swivel, 3 ft. of 5 lbs. leader to a #2 hook and powerbait. We waited the main line above the swivel with 3/4 oz weight. As a challenge I rigged up a very ultra light rod and reel 4ft. in length with 3 lbs. test line. It worked so long as I did my part.

I had my family of four in the boat and I couldn't keep up with getting all the lines in the water before another fish would be on. It was crazy. I finally resorted to having just two lines in the water because it was that fast and furious.

On occasion I would see them coming up after the bait when I reeled a line up to check it. I had a conversation with another boater at the ramp. He said that they were trolling faster than normal and getting the larger sized trout.

I decided to test out a theory. I hooked up one of my Brad's Wiggler with a barbless hook in Red with chartreuse. I cast it in towards shore and and sure enough I had one on. Limiting out was done for a family of four in less than two hours. I will be bringing my family back again for more action at Rufus Woods in the future.
