Waited until the holiday was over and the lake was practically abandoned. Launched at the Alder ramp 0730 and went after rainbows and got a limit of 10"-11" kokes! Went toward the dam and got an 11". Lots of bites and nothing to the boat for the rest of the morning. Worked my way around the island and back toward the ramp. Decided to make a run around the bay to the east of the ramp. Kept lure at 20' to 22' in 35' to 40' of water. Lost count of how many never got to the boat or got to the net and decided not to come aboard! Tried variable trolling speeds (short 3 to 4 second bursts from 1st to 2nd gear, Minnkota 3-speed) which triggered more strikes and finished my limit in 45 minutes!

Thanks. Guess I need to get out my regs again. Would love to bring in an 18in!! Only second time on Alder. Was hoping for larger kokes than Clear Lk., too. Heard there are bigger ones off Rocky Point? The bottom end of the ramp looked a little too difficult for this old man with his 7ft Livingston, so haven't launched there, yet. Been out of WA for 22yrs, missed the fishing. Son-in-law has bigger boat and he may introduce me to Riffe next week.

You must be psychic! Just read ur report and googled a map. Nice fish!! Looks like u come in from the east on 42nd. I just joined WA Lakes a few weeks ago and have only posted Clear and Alder so far. Live in Enumclaw and am checking out surrounding lakes. Will definitely keep posting. Reading Toni's reports and tips were invaluable to a beginning "Koker". She got me "hooked". Maybe see u on the water? Look for white hair and lawn chair in a Livingston.

If legal on your particular lake, add a second and third hook to that bait. You won't lose many kokanee that way. 3 single hooks in line, each piled with shoe peg corn, usually is pretty deadly for kokanee.
