The smallies are pretty dark right now from spawning. I caught one
4 1/4 pound smallie and 8 other smallmouth ranging from 1 to 2 pounds.
I also landed 2 other 3 pound smallmouth. Most of the fish were dark but some of the small fish were quite bronze. I fished the west side of the lake south of Blowdell Donaven Park. I fished casting at docks, brush along the shore, and rocky drop offs in 8 to 20 feet of water. I also hook another large smallmouth but lost it. I caught most of my fish on a rubber natural colored worm and a few on a black
and chartreuse colored rubber worm. I also cast a perch colored crankbait and caught a 8 inch and 12 inch rainbows on it but no bass. I caught the rainbows near the docks.
