Since I had a Day off, I decided to go Fishing for Me! Freezer was getting Low and my Stomach was Craving a little Fresh Fish, Mama Nature was being very kind with such a Gorgeous Day. I gave my Neighbor Lewis a call at 6:45am, Knowing that he would be up and I had a feeling he would be eager to go fishing out on lake Chelan.
We started fishing at the Foot of the Trench in depths from 130 to 220ft deep. We made a uplake troll for over a 1/2 mile without even a Nibble. Made a Turn toward Rocky Point and hooked our first Laketrout at an 1 1/2 hours into our fishing trip. Gradually the bite got better as the day Progressed. Not exactly sure why the Laketrout bite was so weak today, Although I think the fish were enjoying the change in weather about as much as i was..We ended today with an even dozen so it was actually a good day. You're right about that AFK, it was one of the best weather days I've experienced on the lake. ANd the fishing wasn't bad either LOL. Even though I've been on Joe's boat several times, every trip is a learning experience. Thanks Joe for your sharing atitude, and ALSO for patience in teaching an "ole" dog the same tricks over again. LOL it's always a pleasure to share space with ya

Weather wise it looked to be a nice day to be dragging the bottom. Is there occasional gear loss when fishing so close to the bottom on Lake Chelan? Also, does Joe use cable or braid? If braid, what pound test and brand? Always pleasant to see the Lewis grin, hovering above a posed fish.

MotoBoat..to answer your question, I have lost numerous Downrigger Balls and I use 250 lb Test Power Pro on my Downriggers...
