Fished Eloika for a couple hours Sunday afternoon with Pat Perez. I talked with 4 or 5 guys and everyone was doing lousy, either catching 1 or 2 or getting skunked. Ended up moving around a bit looking for a hot spot. The boat launch was packed & as every boat was on the far north side of the lake, it was crowded. Ended up losing at least a 4 pounder as I was trying to lip it, flipped back to the same spot got a good bite so I really set the hook & broke him off. It really wasn't my day. That's the second big fish I've lost right at the boat this year @Eloika. I am going back to using a net: ) After that frustration & feeling like a total amateur I finally boated one dink Largemouth on a crank bait before we had to leave. That was the only fish that made it into the boat in four hours. A super tough day for sure but I had my chance at a big one so I don't feel too bad about it overall. P.S. I think someone put a hex on me. Every time I get on the water it starts to blow...DAMN THE WIND!!!

It's been a pretty windy year. Sometimes you can use it, by fishing the "surf" side where the waves hit. That and small water, in deep holes. Glad you got out!
