Chris and Terry Fitzgerald came out and fished in a strong downlake wind with me for an evening kokanee trip. We found the right depth for our 'riggers at 80 feet down and had nice consistent action. Their limits of Lake Chelan Kokanee included a couple of 11.5" fish at the small end and 3 that were over 16". The remainder were 14.5" to 15.5". We pulled Mack's Lures mini-Cha Cha squidders in purple and black fronted either by Silver Horde Kokanee dodgers or Mack's Flashlites. We baited the Cha Cha's with Pautzke's Fire Corn in Natural. We had very little speed control due to the wind. Fish bit at speeds that varied from 1.2 mph all the way up to 2.8mph. A line out of the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald came to mind: "a hurricane west wind" everytime that gust of 30 mph came up. What an evening!

I was as amazed at the variation in speed that they bit at. Normally we're right down around 1mph, but I could only do what the wind let me do. When I saw them biting at all those crazy speeds, I didn't worry about it and took what came.
