I was in the neighborhood after attending my sister's graduation party (yah SIS!) and decided to stop by here. I'm kinda looking for a secret lake so I've been scouting small secluded waters. I was fishing with a Carolina rigged 5" French Fry, purple w/pearl belly and blue flake & a 2/0 Gamakatsu EWG worm hook, 1/2 oz brass bullet w/bead and double brass clackers. I couldn't actually get down to the water to get a temp, but the water was very stained. I could see some pretty good roiling in the water so there is definitely something in there, and it bit my line a couple times, but I couldn't quite seem to get the hook-set timing right. I only stayed about 30 mins and left. I might venture back and try it again.

The good:
This place is probably someones secret lake. Someone was leaving right when I got there. My guess is that 2 people being here at the same time hasn't happened much and the lack of discarded garbage etc says that people are rarely here. If there are big ones lurking here they probably never see a lure.

The bad:
Unknown legality. I just don't know if it's OK to fish here which is why I didn't stay long. As stated above, people have been here, but not many. The pull in area off 35th is big enough for a couple cars (gps is 47.870539/-122.1838) but has a large double arm gate that is locked preventing you from driving in more than maybe 60 feet. It is NOT posted private property or no trespassing.

Access. I was not able to reach the lake proper. The areas off the access road are very overgrown and I'm not as fit as when I was young so I only ventured a couple hundred yards. Plus I was just in athletic shoes and shorts, and the place is full of prickly wild berry vines. You might be able to reach the real lake area from here if you are willing to rough it. The backwater area is pretty accessible, though either a long net or gear with enough backbone to horse your catch airborne would be necessary.

You need a boat to fish that lake.
Years ago we would launch the boat in a ditch next to 35 st, after running down the road with the boat (no parking on 35 st). People must have thought we were nuts.
There was a channel to get to the lake. The lake is full of Crappie and Bass. Used to get a occasional cutthroat.

Years ago I used to fish that lake also, like chrome, launched a coleman crawdad in ditch to get to lake. Caught nice fish there back in the early 90's. Around 1995, I think, it became illegal to fish there. Was posted no tresspassing. If I remember right, the topsoil company up the road owns that lake, Pacific Topsoils? From what I was told then, area was closed due to people with remote control boats coming in there and leaving all there garbage behind. Was a sad day for me. Used to love fishing that little lake. It might pay to stop in Pacific Topsoils and see what the current situation is, seeing as you saw no signs about tresspassing. Maybe things are different now . .. Good Luck

I too have that little lake in the past - The last time was back in July 1984. My son and I put a canoe onto the lake and caught a few small largemouth bass.

Back in the 80's I used to fish this lake too. There used to be a little trail from the road that you could get some access from or else we used to put a rubber raft in the roadside ditch that connected to the lake. Fun times. Only caught small LMB but did see a guy haul in a 15" crappie one time. Heard there was some big catfish in there at one time too.

Yeah there is not any signage for no trespassing or private property signs where you can pull off 35th Ave when I was there yesterday. The water was running really high as well. Coming from the Eastside, it's really disappointing that they let private parties buy up all the land surrounding these nice little lakes for condos and the like. Makes me miss how wide open the eastside of the state is for sportsman.

I really thought you must have clicked the wrong lake when you made the report, but that's Thomas Lake alright. I grew up just down 35th from there and my parents live nearby still so I've always been interested in fishing the lake. I imagine it will never be fully legal to fish it again, but good on you for investigating it.

I just moved from that area a few months ago and there is signage on 35th now. I believe there are a couple of other options to getting to the lake. One being through the dirt/gravel company. You have to ask permission. The only other way is through an area on the other side from Seattle Hill Road. Never heard of anyone getting into trouble for being back there, but drive by on 35th and you should see "no entry" signs there now.

the home owners association for the subdivision to the south and east of the lake owns the lake. From the north, pacific topsoils owns up to the lake.

There was a sign that said "watch for trucks" and one that I think said "Speed Limit 7mph", but nothing that said no entry unless it was blocked by the semi parked in the right side of the turn out.
