Today I had an adventure. The primary goal was to check out some boat work I had done. The secondary goal was to explore Lake Roesiger and maybe catch some kokanee. Due to a work commitment and a navigational mishap, I didn't get on the water until a bit after 9am. I tried to go up Woods Creek from Monroe and missed a turn and ended up going taking a scenic drive then coming in from the West side. Got to see some lovely country and houses, though!

The launch was okay. For longer boat/truck combos like mine, I would recommend coming in to the launch from the West. It's easier, at least for me, to back around the corner to the left than to the right.

My Arima is definitely overkill for Roesiger, but it worked fine. Not often that I have the biggest fishing boat on the lake!

I had skimmed the reports, so I started in the lower lake. I fished a pink UV Squidy Thang behind a Bahama Mama and an orange wedding ring behind a Sep's silver dodger. I started out in the top 30 feet. I quickly had two rainbows about 11 inches to the boat, both as a line fished up so I could check it... so probably pretty shallow. I switched the wedding ring for a Bloody Mary behind a 50/50 dodger after a bit. I had two hits which looked like kokanee, but neither hooked up.

After 3 or 4 circles of the lower lake, a slowly motored through the middle lake, I mean puddle, to the upper lake. That middle sure looks like bass country.

By this time, it was 11:00, so I made a couple of passes on the upper lake. I had another rainbow to the boat and had about a 9 inch koke come off about 10 feet from the boat. Then it was time to head back and head home. I cranked my kicker up all the way to burn some gas through it and did about 4 mph all the way back to the launch.

I chose not to take anything home, but had a good trip. I did spot some large schools of kokanee (or something) in the upper lake, but didn't get any takers, probably because it was high noon and sunny. Roesiger is a neat lake in a rustic setting, and a nice drive getting there and back. Next time I think I'll try to get there at O'dark thirty!
