I did some fishing at the dam, off of Highway 12. There was no wind. The fishing calendar rated it a poor day. I got there at 7:40 in the evening. It was still pretty crowded there. I caught four silvers. They were biting, but seemed a little more cautious now. I watched some of them come up, have a look at the bait and swim away. I was trying shrimp and worms for bait, about 5 feet down. I was having better luck with the worms.

Nice fish! Do fish off the dam itself?

No, not off the dam itself. There is a fishing area and walkway along the bank you fish from.

Is there room for 3 people and how do you get there? I would like to my son & his friend.

It is generally super crowded there on the weekend, but I have always found a spot to fish from. I would get there early, if you can or go on a weekday. The water level is way up, so not as much exposed walkway or rocks to fish from.

It is the Mossyrock Dam.located about 5 miles east of Mossyrock, on Highway 12. There is a big sign that says Mossyrock Dam and big paved parking lot. It is right off the highway, you can't miss it,

Good Luck!.

Nice fish! Do you know if they allow camping on the shores of Riffe? I know they have a couple of pay campgrounds, but I was hoping to do some bank camping, if possible.

Thanks.

Not that I know of. There is a big unpaved area to the east of the dam fishing area, but there are signs saying No Camping.

Sounds like a lot of coho's being caught up there by the dam. I have never been there but my son wants to get out after something so I am going to take him and 2 of his friends up to the dam and see what we can come up with. I have been reading reports and it sounds like bobbers and worms and/or shrimp. Just the little salad shrimp from the store? Do anything to them, cook, brine? Any helpful info would be great. The 2 friends of my sons family dont fish so this will be their first time out and I hope to get them into some fish. Thanks for your time and help.

I don't think the silvers are all that picky, any will do fine.
