7/17/2012 10:20:00 PMI have a cannon manual with the extended boom and a penn fathom master manual. The cannon is built tough while the penn is a lot simpiler and smoother to crank. The cannon is easier to let down because you are using the handle to brake where as on the penn you have to have your hand on the wheel to ease it down or it will go really fast. I got the pen on cregslist for $50 and it works awesome. I would go with whatever is easier for you and your wallet. As far as the other question about the hooks, i dnt think it matters what color the hooks are unless you are not going to put bait on them. If you run them without bait then i would use a red or blue hook.
