After my last crayfish outing, which resulted in a ½ lb, I decided to trap the same area but change my bait and slightly change the positioning. The bait I decided to use was Cod heads and Salmon trim. I dropped the trap in overnight and when I pulled it out I found I had more this time round. I scaled it at 2 lbs, All Signal Crayfish, this is better but I still want to up the amount. I have located another area that looks very promising and have purchased a second trap.

On a side note, when I went to Outdoor Emporium I noticed that a lot of the Crayfish traps had very small openings, in fact if you were to see the size Crayfish that I am pulling out there is no way they would fit through this opening. Look at my pictures, that claw alone measure 5” and was over a 1 ½” wide at the pincher. I opted for the mesh Kufa trap, which was the only one with wider openings.

http://trapperarne.com/orderform.htm has traps that work pretty good.

Terry Bullard makes the best traps but the guy is damn near impossible to deal with. Doesn't communicate well if at all and his shipping costs were almost twice the cost of a trap. Not to mention he doesn't like to answer emails or respond to that stupid quote system on his website hes so proud of coding. But they are the best traps and they catch more crawfish than any other trap out there.

Hortus dude... You should do a Google Maps search using, Northeast 50th Street, Redmond, WA. Right around that point.. there is a walk down street that goes to the Samammish slough. There is a small dock where kayakers launch, etc. I have seen many crawfish in this spot, as well as they are known to be all throughout the slough.
Of course,, if you have a strong constitution/gut, etc..... the ship canal in Fremont is loaded with them as well. But those ones come loaded with heavy metals as well I'm sure.

Quad: So, if the idea is to increase the weight of the catch, the Fremont ship canal sounds perfect!

Looked at the website. Just buy 2 end funnels and some screen and you're ready to go!

Thanks all. Thanks for the location tips Quadfather. I can’t speak to Terry Bullard or his traps, but his site definitely provides a lot of useful information. I forgot to mention in my post, as far as bait goes I am getting it from H-mart. If you are not familiar with it, it is a large scale Asian grocer behind the Alderwood mall. They sell all parts of the fish for very reasonable prices. I bought heads and trim for $6 total weight 3 lbs= 3 trapping trips or $2 a trip.
I understand the price per lb for crayfish is $8-10 per pound, a net of $6-8 per catch sounds good to me.

Hortus, This post is a little late, but Mchill is absolutely correct about Terry Bullard's traps. I have four of his commercial traps and believe they work great. He's an odd kind of guy though, but I did receive my traps. It's almost as if he'd rather write about crawfish than actually sell his products. I dunno...doesn't matter as long as you get your traps. If you're into a road trip, Buffalo Lake is slam full of crawfish...scary full as in don't go wading. LOL
