This is for last Sat. Took my boy out with our new Jon boat to Kapowsin. Was nice a foggy when we got there. Had been reading some good things about the bass fishing so that's what we went for. Tried spinners, ocho worm (wacky), and crank baits. Not a fish in sight. Finally tied on a jig and double tail grub. Slimed in up with some crawdaddy sent and started tossing it around stumps in 10ft of water. With excitement I finally got to yell "fish" to my boy. It put up a good fight and surprised us by being a nice 13" trout. So no bass but didn't walk away empty handed. The trout was good for dinner :)

BTW people warn about stumps. Not an over statement. I didn't really want to troll faster than speed 2 and even at that every once in a while we came to an abrupt stop... LOL

I think bass are tough to catch at Kapowsin because they have so much natural food. I also think that there are some near state records in that lake.

Back in the 80's there was a article in the Tacoma News Tribune of an angler, fishing Kapowsin who caught a bass that was officially weighed and recorded. It was only 3 ounces under the state record. The sad part....he kept it in his frost-free freezer for nearly a month before finally having it weighed. The game department official said if it had been weighed while fresh, and not kept in a frost-free freezer it would have easily broken the state record.

Thanks for sharing Ricky... I bet there are some big ones in there. Seems like a unique lake for the area.
