12/10/2012 3:13:00 PMWe have done it all. From trolling to jigging from a boat. The vague area in the lake is the variation in water filling or leaving the lake. Like Roosevelt, the water height fluctuates, sometimes daily. I have had luck at the canal at the North end of the lake, the docks at the marinas, etc. While boating I found unbelievable amount of what I would guess to be Kokanee on the other side of Steamboat although they were only at twenty feet, they would not bite. It boils down to time on the water. The fish I have caught are hit and miss between long periods of sitting. Boating has a lot better chance than anywhere. I was told by reliable sources that these fish are so full of heavy spawn (baby fish) this year, they're simply not hungry. There is a lot more action at the pens of course. What is kind of exciting is the variety of fish in the lake. I feel that this time of year, 10 feet of water or better is good as long as it hasn't been bothered that day. I think we're just in a lucky place for that particular fish . We mix it up with crawlers and shrimp from bank on slip sinkers with about three feet of leader. I hope that helps.
PS- My dog decided she likes marshmallows with hooks in them, so be aware. She got lucky, and the #6 hook came out of her tongue without problems

12/10/2012 11:11:00 PMThanks for the report. I would love to hit banks right now. Last time I was over there was in september and the water level was low. I usually don't head over there to fish till March. My folks own property in the coulee city area so I go over a lot during the spring, summer and fall months. I just hate the thought of driving over the pass in the snow. Not a fan of that so thats what keeps me from going I think. Nice bows! I wonder if banks will freeze over this year.

12/13/2012 7:30:00 PMAs an owner of Grand Coulee Veterinary Clinic if your hook doesn't come out of your dogs mouth they could take good care of ya! Been thinking about hitting Banks one of these weeks. Haven't been having to good of luck on Rufus and Banks is closer for me anyways.
