Today was pretty much like every other Monday or Friday (the days I normally fish for trout) I was using the normal setup and caught two Rainbows (one while talking to Toni on the phone) And I guess here is a good a place as any to add that Larry Philips and Toni had a conversation this morning and in fact there are cutts in American. So my goal today was to try and catch one of course I did not.
So back to the story 2 trout caught and 2 trout released. I decided to switch up the scent and went to glow shrimp lunker lotion, as soon as my green and yellow power eggs hit the bottom BAM rod goes down. Now dont get to excited it was not a big fish it just fought like one.
I was only out looking for some cutts today and did not plan on keeping any fish but this one died as soon as it came to the dock. Now I have caught a lot of trout and a lot of kokanee and this fish (hopefully I can get the picture to work) looks like a cross between the 2
This fish dove straight for the top, died as soon as it came out of the water, had no pink line, just little spots on the top, the scales came off very easy, fought harder then all the trout so far, it was super slimey, and bit as soon as I put on shrimp scent. Now all these things are characteristics of a Koke. But the body sure looks like a trout. I compared the picture to all the other trout I have caught this month and this thing is more silver than any of the other for sure. Now before everyone gets all excited I am not saying this is a Koke, maybe it is a kokebow???
I will try and put a picture on of the last trout I caught too so you can compare. Who doesnt like a good conversation about fish.

I even scaled it to look for a pink line like a trout would have and notta. The head or something about it just does not look right but everything else about it says Koke.

Tail doesn't look like a koke

The head or the tail don't look like Koke but no doubt about it the body was all Koke, from the scales to the slime to the lack of color.
One thing I do know Toni, it is not a cutt! lol

Does it have gill rakers like a koke?

I did not pay that close attention to it lou, and now it is being prepared for dinner. Like I said in my post I am pretty sure it is not a Koke even though I have seen so many of them this fish just threw me for a loop because it was the best cross between a koke and a rainbow I have ever seen. Did you decide what day your going out this week Lou?

Yes. Friday looks good. Have to give blood sample at VA first thing, but should be on the water about 8. See you then.

Mike@Bills, Congrats; Nice Fish!!! I went out last Sunday morning for a while and again, was primarily looking for Koks. Off the the Northeast corner of Silcox in about 80ft of water I was marking fish at 40 to 50ft. So I dropped the Riggers down and hooked one. Got it in the boat and by the coloring and markings it appeared to be a Kok until I looked at the tail and sure enough it was a Bow. Crap
