Happy valentines day!
I took my girlfriend out on rattlesnake to practice her fly casting. We started at about 10 and practiced until 10:45. I brought my rod just to have a bug in the water while she casted. So I put my chironomid out about 7ft down under the float and started walking back towards her. And right before I get to her she says "where'd the bobber go?" I turned, hobbled across the rocks, slipped almost fell, got to the rod and set the hook, felt a goood tug and got her to bring it in. Really lazy fish. But about 15-17 inches and full of color!
Unfortunately she got really frustrated, probably with my poor teaching, so we headed out.
There was another guy out on the lake that I saw out in a pontoon. Looked like he was getting a lot of nibbles and a lot of misses. But it seems like the fish are getting a little more active.

Cheers!

Very nice to see the Rattlesnake fishery coming together since it became managed.
Thank you for that great photo.

Be aware, Ive given this post a 5 because i spent less than 5 minutes fishing, the rest of the time the girl was slapping the water with a carey special. 1 fish, 5 minutes, pretty good day.

There is a rocky shoreline all around the lake, and the water level is really down this time of year. So you can cast your spinning gear anywhere around the lake. if you fly fish though it gets tricky... the east and west shores you don't have really any space to backcast.. If you can roll cast or do any spey style casting you will be in good shape. Fish the drop offs on the west shore, it's always been very productive for me.
