Arrived 8:30 am, first time out with the boat. Getting it in the water was a comedy act, but it will go smoother next time. Nobody lost their temper so that's the important thing.

First cast, my wedding ring worm harness & night crawler piece was attacked by a ferocious 7 inch perch, which was cute and set the day off right, and was hastily returned to the water.

We drifted and trolled, using slip sinkers and worm/powerbait.* and various wedding-ring style spinners. Got 3 planters and lost one at the boat. all smallish. Worms seemed to be the big attraction. 2 of the 3 were caught simultaneously, one on a downrigger at 20 dragging said wedding ring on the deep eastern side. The other on a slider egg weight, so running relatively shallow, leader to red hook worm and 2-pink-poweregg presentation that had troubling connotations if viewed a certain way.

Then prowled for bass. Saw huge thing in the piles near the deeps (NW side).

I threw a chartreuse bass spinner around docks, piles, trees and got nothing. (But my right hand was a mess for a couple of days). I can still cast, sorta. Just when we get the rust out, it's Fall and we get out of practice again.

We stayed until 4:30 in the afternoon, sunny and warm. Got last fish around 2.

It was fun and relaxing. Very quiet being a weekday. There were 2 or 3 other boats, but all said they were skunked. Yeah, slow, but we aren't that demanding, as long as we get a bite now and then.

The star of the day was the little perch, who chased off the "skunked" juju,
and the delight of my friend who got 3 tasty trout for dinner.
