Ive had this account for along time but hardly used it just getting used to the ways. Sorry.... since you read the post on this lake do you have any advice you wouldnt mind sharing?

5/25/2013 7:35:00 PMQuad is right, as is his habit. That said, bait, near the bottom, and the nearer night on either end the better. Extra scent on cutbait or nightcrawlers on a sliding sinker rig, letting them take line, generally twice before setting the hook. That or drift fish with bait near the bottom. At times you can catch them faster on diving plugs or Rooster Tail spinners, but bait is far more reliable. Deep holes in sunlight, shallower as the light decreases. No fish? Go lighter on the line. There's more, but no book forthcoming today.

5/25/2013 7:54:00 PMIt's all good Cbarlow,, I would go to the lake section and read all the reports for Catfishing from Swofford Ponds. Garner what info. you can from what people put in their reports. There is another place in Eastern WA. that is maybe the best known producer of channel cats in the state. If I can remember the name of the place I will look up the information and send you a link to what people are doing with those cats.

5/25/2013 9:43:00 PMBest place in the state for numbers of medium to large catfish is probably the lower Snake River. Palouse is great this time of year, but be careful if you go. The shallow parts are dangerous to props. There are other hot spots, and you can search the site by species.

5/26/2013 9:38:00 AMActually, I'm going to differ a hair from Quad. He is right about stinky, but I would modify it to fragrant. Catfish zero in largely, but not exclusively, by smell. Folklore says odoriferous is the way to go, but they like Anise scent, and fresh minnow or craw scent. They are top predators, and when you find them at night in the right mood, say before a thunder storm, they act just about like bass. A 25lb cat on a Zara Spook at night is a rush you'll never forget! So, not disagreeing, but tweaking a bit: Almost any of the commercial scents, and a whole lot of natural scents work great. I grow fresh Anise for that purpose (Looks like dill). But yeah, Google or Bing it.
