Went out to test the boat and ended up limiting out in a fairly short amount of time.
On the water by 11 am and 2 kokanee (10- 11 inches) by 11:45. Fished the far end of the lake using 3 oz Banana weight, Jack Lloyd Flashers with a snubber on and a wedding ring with small bit of worm on the hook. Boated the next 2 (12 inces for both) by 1 PM with multiple strikes and lost fish during that period. Got many up to the boat and tried both netting and hauling them in over the transom with mixed results. Netting seems to be the best choice as the fish tend to be very soft mouthed. Been fishing for kokanee and trout up on Snoqualmie Pass for over 25 years in Kachees and Kachelees so learned very early that using a rubber snubber is the best method for keeping the fish on all the way to the boat.
I continued fishing for another hour, let quite a few 10 inch kokanee slip off the hook boatside trying for one of the larger triploids that usually hang out up at the upper end of the lake. Finally had the last10 inch kokanee swallow the hook so had to boat him and call it a day. Overall I would say i had about 15 or 16 fish hooked and within sight of the boat before they shook the hook.
I have fished this lake for the last 3 years and the kokanee are larger then they have been the last two by a good 2 to 5 inches. The meat was a dark orange color but was still firm and will be great additions to the smoker batch I am building now. I brine them in my secret recipe for 24 hrs in the fridge, pat them dry and use apple or hickory wood chips to make some of the best tasting smoked fish (according to the select few I share them with)

Lake Meridian is a great warm up fishing spot as I have always filled the boat and have actually caught some nice triploids out of there too. Got a nice 18" trout last summer and have consistanly taken 1 or two per outing when the boat is filled with more than just myself. May go back tomorrow and get 5 more to increase the "smoker batch". It looks like i will be needing less fish because of the size increase this year.

Awesome Bryan! The end of the lake really produced this time and I didn't even have to search around. Glad you and the kidlets were kept busy.
