I was able to get an afternoon of fishing on Long Lake before the hot weather and crowds descend and the chaos ensues. Launched out of nine mile and hit some of my favorite areas. The fish are definitely in the post spawn mode and there are fry everywhere. First half a dozen bites only yielded the loss of a tube. I think they were just little guys grabbing the tube and swimming off because when I set the hook that's all I got back. Eventually I did find some better fish and ended up catching a total of 16. The largest was a 20 inch 4lb plus pig, kind of nice when the fish is too big for the photo frame. Also managed a 3 lber and plenty of 1.5-2lb smallies.
