Wanted to take advantage of the nice weather and get out on the water. Launched the kayak from the southwest corner boathouse around 7 AM. Very foggy to the point of being disorientated so stuck to shore and trolled up the west side of the lake with a Rapella. Nothing hitting that and tough to keep from getting weeded up so switched to a red meps 0 casting along the pads. Nothing yet. Last week I got a nice 16 in brown trout and lots of little smallmouth with that setup. Hit the island and started going east across the lake into the deep zone. Ran across a section of the lake just rolling with large carp. Seriously hundreds if not thousands all grouped together. Mating perhaps? Pretty cool site. Didn't really have anything with me to fish for them but some old floating powerbait. Gave it a try for a few minutes with no success. Anyone know what would work? Every time I go out in greenlake early in the morning I can find the carp but have never really seriously targeted them. I bet they could pull my kayak for a little ride!
Got over to the east side a little south of the dock and landed a 18" rainbow. Was able to release him unharmed for another day. Caught about a dozen 2-4" bass along the shore. Actually gave up fishing for the bass as they were swallowing the hook really deep on some and I felt bad about not being able to release them healthy.
Got back to the truck in time to listen to the end of the first quarter of the Seahawk game. Tough one

I always wonder if harpooning the carp is legal or spear gunning them with in city limits. I've seen spear gunners swimming around the arboretum and carkeek. I'd really like to give the old sling bow ago.
