Got on the lake early (first light). Tried, and tried, and tried with various Swimbaits to find the two SM that I lost the week before, but didn't see a single fish, or get a bite. I decided, after seeing a small group of pads ahead on the shoreline, to replace my Swimbait with my brand new Booyah Poppin Pad Crasher. Got a nice LM on the second cast. Never got another bite or follow for the next hour. It was cold, but I was about the only person on the lake! Peaceful!!! You can see my video of it on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECLPlXKVvTg

I got only one yesterday on Sawyer, Largie at 11". Dropshoting a Sniper Snub in pumpkin.

Yours looks a BIT bigger than 11" . :-)

Nice vid. Oh ya, there isn't any Bass in that area anyway. lol

That was the first one I've seen over there this whole year. Makes wonder how many other places i stupidly ignore?? Sure would like to find the Black Hole that the SM swim through on that lake after September.

I'd like to find that there Black Hole the Largies swim to during the summer, it's no wheres near as good as it used to be 15 to 20 years ago. Next summer I have plans on fishing different than I usually do, and in totaly different places. I've been concentrating on dropshotting a LOT this past summer, and this fall too. Next year it'll be lots of swim baits, haven't caught a fish on a swim bait, but I've only thrown it about a half dozen casts this summer.

Recently fished a piece of structure that was secondary to "better" structure. Found huge bass and bluegill just waiting for something to harm themselves with. I think we tend to get in habits of presentation and target that can really limit our limits, or at least I do.
AMX: think deep thoughts. I couldn't find the summer spots in one deep lake, until I jigged for walleye in 80+ feet of water. While I doubt your lake is like the one I describe (with a lot of oxygenated turnover), I found schools of 5-6 lb bass, literally bunched into tiny areas. What I thought were perch or walleye on my old finder, were big bass.
So, shorter version, yeah, I agree.

Heck I hate fishing 20 feet deep, ain't no way I can do 80!!! LOL

Caught 2 Smallies today, one about 25 feet and one about 18 feet, both on dropshot. No bites shallower, or deeper. Only fished 2 areas a few long yards long. Say one at 100 foot and one at 200 foot long areas.

I was at a private lake today fishing and caught one LM in 10ft or less and another in 15 or less on a rocky slope. I was drop shotting a 2" drop shot tube. Man, sometimes you just gotta mix it up. They wouldn't choke a worm or minnow bait (caught 4 trout that would though!). I love it when you can find shallow bass in 50 deg water. Also...if any else is reading this...I just read somewhere that you are not supposed to use html in this report, so I'm sorry for breaking the rules at the beginning of this report. It was not intentional.

Don't worry about the vid linky thing. I'd rather copy and paste that link in another browser and watch the vid, than not being able to see the vid. :-) I know it says ' No HTML allowed', but it's just that a link won't work, not that you aren't supposed to post the url to a vid.
