1/2/2014 10:15:00 AMWay to go! I think that puts you first on the books for 2014 kokes. Our kokanee lakes are all closed for the winter on the east side. There are some in lake Roosevelt but they are not easy to catch this time of year. Trout fishing has been awesome though with the "little " ones going 2#'s plus now.

1/2/2014 4:46:00 PMThey were 12 to 13 inches. Alan, On another site there is a post by some young anglers who put a hurtin on them at Lake Merwin yesterday. Nothing beats kids catching fish!!!!! Yea and I've got to start early to try and keep up with Toni. :-)

1/2/2014 7:12:00 PMFor Kokanee, i don't troll any slower than .9 on my GPS; you need to have enough speed for the flasher or dodger to work properly. I usually start out at .9 to 1.2mph and work up from there - much depends on the lake and time of year. I've had to troll up to 2.5mph to entice the fish to hit. Variations and/or adjustments in speed and direction can also entice a bite. I typically troll in an S pattern and many times the fish, following your lure, will hit in the turn when you change speed and direction. Don't claim to be an expert but this is what has worked for me over the years. Tight Lines... Slayer
