The narrows was ice-free. We caught 2 fish, one 10 inch and one 19 inch 3 lb 2 oz female. Went with a good friend and my granddaughter. She's a great fisherman with good instincts. Had a great time even though it was slow.

I went again 3/1/2014 and the ice had receeded even more but the fish weren't cooperating at all that day.

Imagine the wind howling through the narrows,.. Not hard huh? Draw a straight line along the South shore of the narrows out across the open area that turns SE past the narrows and you'll have an idea of open area. The wind and wave action have thinned and broken up the ice as it blows through the narrows. I'll begin 2 weeks you can get a boat out there.
