Decisions, decisions! So found myself today trying to decide between American, Angle or Lake WA but since I wasn't ready until about 2:30 drove down to just check out the action on Angle. Saw a couple trailers in the parking lot and a guy just launching in a cool little boat with a down rigger. The lot was pretty full so opted for Lake WA as I still had a few more lures I wanted to try out there and this time had my fish finder.

Got the launch at 3:30 and headed straight across to the south tip of Mercer and decided to start with my set up with the 3" shad minnow behind a pink spin 'n glow and no flasher. As I was rounding the north point and turning east, my rod buries down and starts peeling line and it 's fish on! Sometimes I love not using the down rigger just to see that take down, it's exhilarating!! After a bit of tug of war got her close enough to ease into my new rubber net! Love it! Not huge but will add to the 2 from yesterday so will have a nice fish fry for my wife as she returns from her trip tomorrow and she loves fresh caught trout!

That was pretty much it though as tried out a variety of different set ups so not sure if I didn't get them right or just didn't get them where the fish were hanging but at least it was another smooth day on the water for the tin cup's motors! Oh but one funny thing did happen as I was launching the boat by myself, when I run up on the dock to spin the boat around to face out and pull to the end of the dock, the tow rope came unattached from the boat and it drifted away! Yikes!! Fortunately there was a bit of a north wind blowing so it blew it across to the other dock and not out to sea!! Haha! I ran quickly over and caught it just as it was about to hit the dock with the main motor so whew! I was lucky and now made sure my rope was secure. Good thing it didn't happen when I bumped it off the trailer as I have actually done that before and had to jump in to save my boat!! Oh well I am sure it caused some folks to laugh at the launch!!
By the way, does anyone know why these guys seem to have their tails eaten or nibbled on? The bigger one did yesterday and this guy was missing the top half and looked pretty freshly done.. Just wondered,

See you on the water!

Nice looking fish! And on a spin-n-glow? whoda thunk it? Thanks for the report.

Thanks for another good report, Barry! Glad it all worked out for you, especially when the boat cut loose of the bow line.

Fish Princess and I had an odd thing happen to us yesterday too on the way up to Cassidy Lake...almost hit a bald eagle with the car on the ramp from 405-N to 5-N. He was just grabbing some carcass off the ground and trying to get airborne with it. Flew right in front of my truck and I about jackknifed the trailer slowing down so as not to hit him. Thankfully nothing worse than a close call for both the bird and us.

I guess it was a day for the unusual.

Tight Lines!

It was a great day to be out on the lake even though the fishing was slow. I think the tail damage is from the spawn. The fish get aggressive towards one another and typically nip at the tails, plus they use it to dig their redds.
