Another great day on Sprague Lake. This was our seventh trip since the ice left the lake and we have put 64 fish in the boat. The trip Monday we got nine in the boat and missed and lost at least that many more. there was about a 6 mph east wind blowing so any time we had the bow toward the east and had to leave the steering wheel to net a fish things could get turned around pretty fast. My wife got the first hook up of the day about 15 mins. after getting in the water, it was a dandy about 20 inches. While she was doing a great job fighting her fish I got one, of course the wind spun the boat around and our lines crossed and we had two nice fish at the back of the boat all tangled together. I got one fish netted and in the boat and got the net hung up on a knob on the down rigger. After what seemed like an eternity of being laughed at I had the net free and netted the other fish. The nice thing about fishing with my wife is that I can count on this story being told at every camp ground we go to this year and maybe next year. After all that it one bite after another all day long. We had some smaller tiller boats around us that seemed to be doing pretty good also. The picture is of our fish last Friday 3/21, 10 fish(not gutted) weighed 24.8 pounds. We are just pulling trolling gear with hand tied weeding ring type spinners tipped with worms.

hewesbob: Way to go on the rainbows. Beautiful fish. I will be joining you next March for sure and maybe this fall in late October.

Nice fish! It's amazing that this lake keeps producing nice Rainbow Trout, even though it's being managed by the WDFW for Bass....

That weight should have said 24.8 pounds, They average about 2 1/2 pounds per fish

The trout are there until the warm water fish kick in, and from what I could tell last year, that might be a bit longer then the Fisheries Manager expected. LOL Glad to see the great fish, keep it up.

As for the story, if your wife is like my wife, it will last far more then two years, and with each and every telling it will get better and better. ROFLOL

Hi hewesbob - always fun in the wind. I remember when I first got my two pole license I ran down there, put two lines in with the wind blowing. Immediately got a double...yikes now what do we do? The boat swaps ends before you can blink......well sounds like you know the rest of the story!
Nice catch have you caught any of those 5 plus # monsters this year? How do they taste once cooked?

Tight lines,
Alan

Nice job hewesbob, and man do I know the bow swapping with the stern story. Gets ugly fast with 4 lines in the water! I've gotten to the point where I choose not to troll "into the wind" to keep things sane. Those 'bows are nice table fare early in the season. :-)

hewesbob: Hi. I don't know if you got the message I sent to you about Sprague, but if it didn't go please contact me at whalendenton@gmail.com. I'd like your thoughts about Sprague this year in March. Thank you.
Simon
