My first day fishing in 31 years. The water on Riffe was nice, weather not so nice. A lot of fish jumping but not as many biting. Caught 3 kokanee in 3.5 hours using wedding rings of various colors with orange or green power bait. Caught 2 with that set up and caught one with a wedding ring and shrimp. I spent the morning about 300 ft from the Mossyrock dam. I will try the eastside next.

So was the boat launch useable at the park? How did the fish look, fat or skinny ? I'll be there for Memorial wknd but if I see good reports I might go sooner for a day trip. Thanks

You must be new to this site, there are NO kokanee in Riffe Lake, they are silver salmon. Bob R

please stop with the kokanee / silver discussion - it misses the entire point of the post.

The boat launch at Mossyrock had 2.5 lengths of dock floating. the fish were uniform in size not fat. they did have a good amount of worms in their gut. I'm not sure what that means.

I will take pics of the fish next time then maybe someone (Bob R) can tell me what they are.

Worms in the LL coho is pretty normal there, as long as they are only in the guts they are fine to eat. If in the meat, no good

"Please stop with the kokanee/silver discussion-it misses the entire point of the post" joecoyle My reply was polite, if you don't like posters correcting misidentified fish , too bad. Your opion is just that- your opinion. Bob R

as between the two postings, which is polite - please, NO and too bad - the comments on line with regard to fish id and whether to catch and release are a turn off. All agree BobR is absolutely correct but so what....more fishing please.
