When I first started fishing that lake for kokes I kept losing fish all the time so I started using trolling snubbers and I didn't lose as much as before. Most of the kokes I caught there were on a green wedding ring/green smile blade behind a small flasher tipped with shoe peg corn that's been soaked in garlic scent. Good luck

I wrote off that lake early last year, then jonnydkokanee (I think that was the poster) shared his success later in the season and it was due to that I was able to have a great day out there with my grandpa, the highlight of my year last year.

4/12/2014 6:24:00 AMIt is still early and lakes are just warming up to the optimum temp for these silver bullets to really start feeding so just keep at it. Try adding a treble stinger to your set ups as that really increased my landing ratio last year when i did that. Hang in there!

4/12/2014 7:32:00 AMI do keep forgetting the season is young. I guess the anticipation is hi because I have been out there so many times. I just want to land 1 random fish and this was my chance. Thanks for the tips and motivation.

4/12/2014 9:43:00 AMI am right there with you, still waiting to put the first kokanne in the boat. It will happen odds say it will. Hang in there and tight lines, remeber if the fish is still jumping around at the top of the water be sure to lower your tip and let is swim in the water and get tired, once it lays flat on top of the water he is then ready to be netted. I know this is hard to remeber in the heat of the moment but try. Tight lines.

4/12/2014 3:10:00 PMI have a decent hook-to-catch ratio with use of a snubber and two #6 single hooks tied "one hook" apart on the presentation.

4/12/2014 9:15:00 PMWhen I first started I was only landing about half what I hooked. I did a few things that really helped, and I'm upwards of 95% now:
1) My rigs now are all set up with two #4 hooks, about one hook distance apart. I like to run a single glow bead between them. The first ones I did were with mosquito hooks, but now everything I tie up uses sickle hooks. I can't say for sure, but I feel like they hook up better.
2) switched to a very flexible lightweight rod, and set a rather loose drag.
3) I keep a good bend in the rod when retrieving, but I keep the rod tip low as they approach the surface. Kokes seem to "play along" until they get close to the surface, then turn into circus acrobats. Keeping the rod tip in the water has helped me keep them lower until they are closer.

4/13/2014 12:53:00 PMHey, i saw you on the lake. I believe that the WDFW stocks the lake with kokes at the end of the month, but i could be wrong. I've had good success with hotshot lures going for kokes as well as rainbows. Also, lures that "flash" are very good for kokanne, and corn works too.
