First catch of the season deserves the first post.
After 3 previous and unsuccessful trips to Stevens the fourth trip finally proved fruitful with 3, beautiful cookie-cutter Kokes!
Anticipating the lake opener first timers showing up, I decided to get out to the lake a little after 5, earlier than usual for me.
Starting out, the weather was perfect for fishing. Cloudy skies, barely a breeze and cool temps. An hour it started drizzling and I realized that I forgot to bring my rain jacket with me. Fortunately it was just a cloud temporarily passing by and my thoughts of cutting out early went with it.
First fish of the morning, and for 2014, came as the sun started hitting the water, around 7:30 in the morning. The ticket lure was a self made red wedding ring setup tipped with gulp maggots and paired with a red flasher. A few more passes later I decided changing up with another self made rasticle spin-n-glow hybrid which nabbed the other two.
