My brother and I got out of work and decided to fish the afternoon for some perch for a fish fry. We decided to head down towards Tum Tum to a spot we like and set up in about 6 feet of water. Now my brother ties the Kekeda flies that we use on Roosevelt but he decided to tie up some jigs to use for the perch and crappie we like to catch. I had the white jig he ties with a piece of worm when my pole doubled down. I told him it was not a perch! We were so excited after I pulled in a 24", 7.5 pound largemouth bass. Great fight! We gradually moved out to 10-12 feet of water where we found the perch. We ended up with the one bass, ten perch, a tench and great memories. Largest bass I have ever caught and I also caught the biggest perch of my life, a 13 inch beauty!

Hey now! You failed to mention that you had a net man worth his weight in gold. In reality, I didn't have to do anything at all. That was such an exciting catch. Looking forward to more evenings like that this summer.

Carp Herpes, lol... I know, everY so many yrs the Carp population gets out of hand and Mother Nature do what she does to balance it out. Long should be comercially fished for the Carp, as it once was.

I grew up on Long lake and the fish. My Great Grandmother that lived to be 96 lived on it since its conception. She ate the fish more then anyone I knew or know. Long Lake is so much cleaner then it was in the 80s and healthier then I ever seen it. The Perch and Crappie I have been catching are the biggest and prettiest I ever remember. I did see a 16" Perch caught off the dock at Willow Bay, No Bull. And the Crappie average is more then respectable with a few slabs.
