I've yet to not limit out on this lake this year.
I arrived at bosworth at 9:15 am on the lake by 9:35, i trolled quickly to the far end of the lake from the launch, with the help of the wind. The conditions were warm and sunny with occasional light breezes, this means to me the fish will hold 15'-30' deep in 20'-deepest point of water. Once i arrived at the deep end of the lake i stopped dead and let my gear sink. One rod was a 3weight set up with a fast sink tip, 10' of tippet and an orange spider pattern that i tied. My other set up was a size 6 octopus hook with a half worm threaded half way up the line the other half was loose(natural look) and 3/8oz split shot. I let both set ups sink down 30' and barely trolled 0.1-0.2 mph. First rod to get hit was the fly rod, this fish doubled it over and litterally took 3 full minutes to reel in on the 3 weight, i was being careful of the rod tip (didnt want it to break) this 13 1/4" trout felt like moby dick on such a light set up. After i found the spot and technique it was fish on or hit every 10 minutes. The fly out produced the worm 2/1. These trout are getting really fat, their tails are fully formed( not rounded like they are in the spring) and they put up an excellent fight on ultra light gear. I had the lake completely to my self, birds chirping sun was shining, a wonderful day at my favorite low land lake.
