My wife and I got out to fish Cassidy for the first time this past Friday evening. We spent the entire time working the lily pad edges for crappie on the west side of the lake, starting around 7:30pm and leaving at about 9pm. We were both using 1/32 oz. jigs, initially about 3' under the bobber. She had a chartreuse curly tail grub and I was using a red tube jig with yellow tentacles. We also tipped the jigs with a bit of worm for most of the night. We didn't have much action for the first half hour or so, after which I lengthened our depths to about 6'. It was probably right around 8pm that I made that adjustment, and after that it was game on. We didn't end up catching any keeper sized crappie, but we did catch a few smaller ones (our first crappie ever, which was fun), as well as tons of perch, two pumpkinseeds (firsts for them as well) and one small largemouth bass. Some of the time we would just let the gear float and let the fish take it, but at other times we employed a very very slow cast and retrieve method to get a better sense of when the strikes were coming. Both seemed to work pretty well. A fun night overall!

Actions on your first trip is always fun, especially catching a variety of species - sounds like you have a good idea on the techniques & set up, you'll see much bigger fish on your next trip.
