From your description and rig via the picture, are you catching bluegill and perch on bass sized hooks? I'm actually interested in targeting those species but I feel like my hook size is causing missed hookups. The boat and rowboats sometimes really kill it for me, especially when school lets out, I think some rowing club is using the canal for training.

5/22/2015 5:58:00 PMyes, especially using smaller plastic baits or live nightcrawler I've caught smaller fish with this same setup: bluegills, perch, rock bass...mostly rock bass in this location.
I mainly use owner mosquito hook #2 size, drop shot technique hooks are a lot smaller and shaped differently than the hooks you commonly would use for something like a texas rig.
