Decided to go fishing on my trip to the dog food store. Did good, some Largies and a couple Smallies. Decided to use a different lure than I was planning on using, and to do drop shotting later. Also decided that I'd been using the spinnerbait a bit lately that I'd better test the knot, good thing I did as it broke easy. Might have broken on the cast. Retied, broke it, retied, broke it, pulled out a few inches, retied, broke it, peeled off 10 feet or so, retied and it held. Yeah. Second cast and a BIGGIE hit. Took the spinnerbait back into the pads a few yards. After a bit and following the fish with the boat all the way into the pads I was able to net the fish, and weighed the Largie at 4.82. Thought it was a carp the first time I saw it.

Also caught smallies and largies on a crankbait by the pads, docks, and 'out-in-the-middle', and outside weedline.

Only a couple on the dropshot today.

Nothing on a senko.

Good job recognizing the bad line. Otherwise, would have been a heartbreaker. Slammin LMB. Woot!

Ya, I've lost fish before because of not checking knots and line for the first couple feet above the lure. Years ago in the '80s when I was trying berkley line I had a spinnerbait go flying up into a tree, new knot, new line, it's probably still there.I usually test all the knots the evening before fishing, and I did for the lures I was planning on using, but as a person changes his mind, anything can happen, so I checked it. Ended up only doing a little dropshotting, had too much fun with the spinnerbait and crankbaits.

Saw you. had to bail when the rain came. Funny, I had just the opposite experience. One of my best days drop shotting, but other lures...not so much. Nice LM.

Saw you too, but decided to not chase you down. lol

Sounds good. I've been thinking of The Big Sam. Hope it isn't as foggy as it was last year in Oct. Took over a half hour to get to where I wanted to be. :-)

Yesterday I lost a BIG Smallie on the dropshot. Looked to be a good 3 lbder. Jumped and threw the hook. That's the 3rd time I've lost a big fish in that exact same spot in the past 5 times fishing it, since/and including our fishing outing. Did catch 2 small fishes there.

Today I almost got skunked, but managed 2 smallies in the last half hour on the dropshot.
