Prospecting for Kokanee has had it's ups and down's. Fishing for deeply suspended Kokanee with Mack's Lures Mini Cha Cha's in orange Behind a Mack's 0000 Double D Dodger tipped with Pautzke's Fire Corn worked best. Also, the bite for holdover rainbows in Mill Bay is pretty good. Pautzke's American Wildfire Firebait on a slip sinker rig works best there.

Anton, how would Omak lake fish this time of year? I am considering fishing there one day this weekend. How would you fish it? Depth, lures, location on lake.........ect!

Thanks Anton.

The fishing will be fine. Use your sonar to find them then pound away. This time of the year they are more likely to be deeply suspended (between 50-100 feet deep). They will bite anything that you have confidence in. I usually default to Silver Horde Kingfisher Lite spoons in Cookies and Cream or green glow, but really it doesn't matter. Spoons, spinners and plugs will all work. We fish around 1.7 mph a lot up there, but again, whatever you have confidence in will work. This time of the year I will frequently stay in the North Bay to avoid wind. Access is the issue. It can be dicey getting in and out. Good Luck!

I have never been to Omak lake. Are you saying the launch can be dicey? Or the road in and out of Omak Lake can be muddy or snow covered?

Basically, yes to all of the above. In good weather conditions, the ramp just takes a bit of scouting. When the weather turns, I don't think the access road or the ramp are priorities for snowplow crews. Sorry for the delayed response. Christmas and 17 grandkids...
