Day one of a two day Adventure.

With wind in the forecast I figured we only had till about noon to fish. On this day we concentrated our efforts around the "Yatch Club" Area of the lake. Working about 1/2 in each direction as I was marking nice schools of fish. We caught and released a few 10-12" Kokanee before all hell broke lose. I marked a group of fish at 150' deep in 170' of water so I ran the starboard side rigger down to intercept what I was hoping was some healthy Kokanee. As soon as I put my hand back on the Kicker the bottom road unclips and big headshakes quickly bend the rod to the cork. "Laker!" and my fishing partner was on the rod in no time. Then the fish turned around and headed out, big headshakes followed by drag smoking runs. Meanwhile Im doing the one man circus act trying to clear the five other rods and keep enough line on the reel in case this lake monster decides to head for Chelan. After 20 Minutes I got the fish swimming sideways to the boat and turned to intercept it. With the sun glare on the water it was hard to see it until it hit the net. My biggest Chinook ever from Lake Chelan. My buddy did a great job at working this fish into the boat and we were all ecstatic at what just happened. After some high fives and a photoshoot we got back to business. Putting 14 more Kokes to the boat but only 4 over 13".

Then Chelan showed her Ugly side and we pounded our way back to the boat ramp! Overall it was a great day for my Second trip of the year to Chelan. 21 Kokes to the boat. 9 Kept. and the Chinook!

Our hottest set-ups for the day were UV taped Dodgers and Squids with 1.1 Smile blades in front. Pink and Orange were the go to's with the Pink 2" squid claiming the Chinook. Depths of 73-130' were most effective with the Bigger fish coming below 100' on the wire. Speeds were 1.0-1.4 mph with lots of turns.
