This lake has been on my mind for a while and now that I'm finally getting time to fish I thought I would run up and check it out. Didn't get up there until about 11am after getting some work done at home. There was one other bass boat that had just launched when I got there and they were fishing the launch side so I motored across to the far side of the lake.

Spooked one early on and it was off like a shot. I saw one moving in a small reed clump but when I pitched in to him he swam off. Figuring the fish were spooky I changed tactics and backed off. Making long casts to the outside edge of broken reeds nabbed the first strike of the day. I landed him...2.0lbs. Two casts later I hooked another and it ran at the boat, I had him hooked but not good and about halfway to the boat he came off. A short time later I had the third and final strike of the day but missed.

Water temps were 48-49* and although it was sunny out the air just felt chilly. I'll give the northern lakes another week or two I think.

A two pound largemouth in February is a nice fish. I have fished that lake a few times with limited success. Fished it one time during very low water conditions - Have photos - will share.

Great memories on that lake. My very first bass fishing experience was there. Had a topwater blow up on a frog. Looked like a raccon jumped in the water. Great place, but man.. the weed growth in that lake always seemed off the hook! I was worried about clogging my intake.

Thanks Bob. Try it just before it closes late in the year, let me know if your going and I'll tell you a couple excellent baits to try!

Quad, it is bad! It was even a little thick in spots right now with the lake of rain! I take a push pole just in case, problem is the worst part is the far side and that's where the wind likes to blow....try push poling out of it in a 10mph wind, I usually end up just firing up and driving out, as long as you don't run too long you won't overheat.

Great picture and nice fish! I enjoy fishing Terrell when I get the chance. Could I ask what type of lure you were using?
