Got to the lake with lines in the water around 0700. Put my lines at around 10' and started hitting fish right off the bat. I was able to get 2 in the boat before the sky opened up. The wind made its presence known right away, but shortly after landing the 2 fish, the rain and hail started. It lasted about 30 minutes before the sun came back out. When the sun came back out, the wind really started to pick up. Made it rather difficult to troll a solid line, but I persisted. I had a lull in the bite when the sun came back out, so I went searching. After another 30 minutes or so, I was able to find the fish again and was able to land 3 more to fill the limit in about 20 more minutes. The trick was just to find them again. I think one of the best parts of the day was that I didn't get into any of those pesky rainbows. Dodger/Lure of the day was a Macks Double D in Chrome and a homemade wedding ring (orange and green), a real silver plated blade and some flash tied onto the top hook for good measure. Bait was un-scented shoepeg corn. All the fish are on the smaller side (11" give or take) but that's been the size of the fish on Meridian for the past few years now, especially earlier in the season like this.

Nice! Last year they were in the 12-14 inch range early in the season. Later more towards May they started pushing 14-16. Do you think it has to do with the different years the fish were planted. Example, 1 year old fish compared to a 3 year old fish?

Good report & nice looking batch of fish. Persistence obviously paid off on a nasty day!
