On our third and final day, knowing we needed to be off the water early to head home Bassplayer17 and I had a plan to hunt down quality over quantity....hunt them down we did putting 12 fish all over 14.5" in the box and they were fat. A nice bonus Chinook of about 4lbs took Tony for a ride and was awesome to watch!

My hot lure was an orange/pink Kokanee Kritter from Free Drifter flies behind an orange/UV dodger.

Awesome weekend, beautiful scenery, outstanding fishing, and great company!

Wow! That's nice. My friend must really suck at fishing. He went there on Sunday and couldn't even get bit. One Cutthroat. I think his leaders were too long or Maybe it was the wrong brand of shoepeg corn.

I used to eyeball my leaders and this year measured some to see they were 14-16 inches or even longer in some cases. That's WAY too long! I made some marks on one of my tackle boxes and now measure 11" from the very back hook to where I start my loop to tie, this gives me exactly 12" which is the longest you should use. 10-12" with 15lb fluorocarbon leader (stiffer than mono) is my preference. Anything lighter and you'll break offf on a bigger fish. We also trolled fast, 1.6-1.7 with lots of speed variations and depth changes. Green Giant white shoepeg corn with our special blend of scents worked good but we used several different known combinations these three days. Any lake needs some practice to get the kokanee dialed in. Just when you think you have it, they serve you a piece of humble pie anyway!

Predator 1, I run some of my leaders out to 24". Most are 15 to 18". It really depends on what type of lure you are running, dodger length, speed trolling, and if your lure has its own action or if it's depending on dodger for added action. Like I said, my best leader length on Chelan is 15" to 24"
