Well I rated it a two but in my books its more of a 3 or 4 rating. Been fishing the skagit for sockeye since the first year they opened it. Always did decent and I took fish home every season. With the high numbers that they dumped in the lake for this early in the season i manage to gather enough courage and tacke the lake from my inflatable. First it was a challenge to get to the fleet took me around 45 minutes. Finally arrive and started trolling around but one thing i noticed was my downrigger was making me do circles and made it difficult to keep straight. Most likely irritating other boats (note to self add another downrigger to counterbalance) i do have a two pole endoresment so fished one on 4oz lead and the other on various depths from 45-65 ft. First hook uo was a small 8" kokanee which got hooked in the head and was dead instantly. Decided to keep. Around 830 seen my pole bounce so i grabbed it and it was already released from the clip. Felt a tuggle and seen the fish jump. Fish on! He would swim straight towards the boat then take off again. Everytime he swam he swam my way the line would go slack so had to hurry up and catch up with it while making my drag was set right in case he decides to take again. Came in close and got wrapped around my wire. I felt like the fish might win this battle but i somehow managed to slip the net under him and into the boat he goes. First sockeye from baker and my first time up there. I did see around 10 fish netted but seemed slow giving they dropped 11000 fish. That was it for me headed back to pack up and eat lunch.Beautiful lake and i will be back soon. I fished the usual flashers and used a pink Jr Ace Hi Flys with smile blade.

nice! What kind of raft were you using? I'm thinking of trying my 10 ft sevylor fishmaster raft, but not sure. Thinking if i get pontoon raft, that might be better. I do have an old lake downrigger that I've never used.

Bestway Hydroforce. Pretty sturdy but do need two riggers as mentioned. Felt like that impacted my fishing as well as others. Investing in a new one soon
