After getting skunked at Bench lake, my brothers in law and I headed over to Snow Lake to see if the lake contained fish and whether or not those fish were more willing to bite than those at Bench Lake. Thankfully, we found that the lake does indeed contain fish, evidenced by the jumping we saw as soon as we arrived, and that it seems to contain quite a few more fish than Bench. We also found that these fish were more willing to bite as well.

One of my brothers in law started with a 1/4oz silver Kastmaster and began to get follows and strikes, with one hookup almost making it to shore before he lost the fish. Meanwhile, I worked a royal coachman on the surface while my other brother in law tried a few different rooster tails. He didn't get any action with the spinners, but I began to get interest from the fish using the coachman, landing two small westslope cutthroat.

Eventually I switched both of them over to beadhead flies under a bobber (one a black woolly bugger, and the other an olive woolly bugger). Both flies began to produce interest from the fish, although we weren't able to get any hookups with them. By this point the sun had climbed high enough in the sky that the area where we were fishing was in the sun and it seemed that the action slowed down. It was about time for us to head out anyway, so we called it a morning.

All in all, it was a nice lake to fish, although the trout definitely were not huge (the biggest I saw was maybe 10", with most seeming to be much smaller). I would recommend fishing early in the morning, before the sun hits the water, and using small silver colored hardware, or some small dry flies.

Tight Lines!
