I was not using any weight, just casting from shore. When trolling I don't use weight until fish are deeper than 5 ft below the surface which usually is around mid May or so after the lakes are planted. As to speed, I troll usually on speed setting 1 as I have a 30lb thrust trolling motor on a raft. Sorry, but I can only guess I'm doing about 1.5 mph give or take.
