I should have just stayed home today. Arrived at Wenberg at about 7:30am. Was about to pay my $10 when someone starts yelling something to me. They are heading out. Turned off the Jeep, to hear them tell me the gate is locked and no one can find the ranger. I found the phone number for the ranger.... answering machine. Waited until 8:15 then decided I would just hop across the street and hit Shoecraft. Got there, did 1 circuit of the lake, and marked very few fish. Trailered back up and stopped by Wenberg to see if the gate was open.... it was.

Started fishing at maybe 10:30. Saw 5 other boats on the water. I know of 1 fish caught and 3 brief encounters. That all I had today. Fish on for about 5 seconds. By the time I decided the fish was on, grabbed the rod, and never even got to feel the fish. First skunk at Goodwin for me in quite awhile. Marked fish, just could not figure out what they wanted today. Maybe it was the weather change today.

I hear a lot of guys have the same results in shoecraft. I personally have never gotten skunked their but I usually troll green and black wooly buggers in front of the creek that flows in from Goodwin. I do long set backs and will try with dodger and without. With dodger usually works best

I did see quite a few marks near the creek outlet just as the bottom started to come up... maybe 10ft depth, and a few on the opposite end of the lake. I probably should have just stayed there, but I had packed and prepared for Goodwin so I wasn't really into giving it a real shot.
