After not catching anything at another lake, we stopped at my favorite spot at Lake Washington and no one was at the dock, just the way I like it.

I only had my 10.5ft medium action rod with me.

Perch was pretty consistent in 8ft of water. Most of the female have laid their eggs already. The male were still milking. Kept a few of the bigger perch (8"+) and the rest were released.

Caught 4 Peamouth Chub.

A ton of sculpin, all released.

Lastly, caught what I think is a carp. 19" 4.92lb. It was super fun with the long flexible rod. A couple of times it swam under the dock and having the long rod really helped. My friend helped me net it after it was tired out.

Any one know what kind of carp?

That is not a carp. Tench is the name of that fish. Nice good fighting fish. As for food, not good table fare, the same like carp.
Tried a couple times, no-no. Fertilizer.

With those rule changes you can't even go and catch them anymore in Washington Lake?! That is how far stupidity goes. Unfortunately more will come. Very sad.

Hey hate to be the one give the comment on it, but I was at the lake chelan get together and they said that as of May 1st all fishing on lake washington is closed. As are 4 other lakes. I do not know all the info but thought I'd put it out. Tight lines.

Mike, you are right Lake Washington is closed as of 1 May for all sport fishing. This guy says he fished 28 April so he is good. PSA has the derby on hold pending a wdfw rule change that probably isn't coming for eight more months.

@66kma - Thanks for identifying the fish. I've never heard of this fish before, but I wouldn't mind another. Very fun to catch.

This trip was from Thurs the 28th. The recent closure really bites, I live 10mins from Lake Washington. For those that don't know about the closure of the 5 lakes and sections of river that flow into Puget Sound, you can read about it at http://wdfw.wa.gov/news/apr2916a/

That's a unique looking fish.... it's like a mix between a smallmouth and a carp.

How do they justify closing Lakes when its the salt that is in doubt? Some times I just have to say "HUH"??
