With the promise of some warm and sunny weather, I enticed my "fairweather fishing" wife, Boni, to accompany me to Gissberg on Monday morning. We arrived at 5:45 AM, at my favorite spot and lines in the water by 6:10. Temp at the outset was 53 degrees... not a cloud in the sky and not a hint of a breeze. Water temp just off the shoreline was a surprising 65 degrees. I set Boni up with Pink Power Eggs on a 6' leader; I set up one of my rigs with chartreuse PE (4' leader), the other with nightcrawlers under a float. About ten minutes in, Boni's line went taunt, then the rod tip began to dance and she reeled in a nice stocker Rainbow of about 11". In the next half hour she had several bites and landed a second 11" 'er. I put Pink on my PE rig, and I soon began to have hits. Action was non-stop all morning, though the fish were biting softly... lots of bites without hook-ups, and lost 6 or 8 on the way in. About 8:00, as I was re-baiting, I thought I saw a disturbance on the water out of the corner of my eye... turned to check on my float, and found that it was gone... pulled under the surface by another 11" Rainbow. Was the only fish taken on the crawlers, though I had a few nibbles without hook-ups. We took turns landing nice, chunky Rainbows that ran between 10" and 11 1/2" and had our limits by 9:00. By then the sun was climbing higher into the sky and the bite had definitely slowed. Left the lake about 9:30 and the temp was already 75 degrees!
A glorious morning at the lake, great fun to watch my wife laughing as she reeled in fish after fish besides netting mine.
Saw a good number of other anglers come out for the morning, saw only a couple of other fish landed, from our vantage point. PTL!

I have to agree, watching others laugh and smile with fish on is more enjoyable than catching some days...some days..LOL
