Decided to brave 33 degree temps and a light dusting of snow and took the boat to Offut Lake for a few hours. Water temp was 39-40 degrees. Not a single other boat or angler from the dock seen. Trolled for 2 hrs and caught 2 in the 14-15 in range within the first 30 min. Then the bite stopped dead. Tried different speeds and colors before heading home to watch the Hawks game. Calm to no winds and my portable heater made it very tolerable. Beautiful afternoon on the lake but not nearly as successful as other recent trips to Offut. Ramp was a bit slick but fortunately no problems taking out. Might try again Saturday.

Rocketvet: Hi there. Boy that is a sweet lookin trout. You must have ice running thru your veins to brave the elements like that. I need to come up and keep you company sometime on that lake. I've fished it once, but didn't have any idea where to concentrate my efforts so I never caught anything. Maybe if I knew the general area to try I might be more successful. If the weather breaks I think I'll have to give it another try. It's about an hour or so from me so it wouldn't be that far. Thanks for the report. Good luck to you and Merry Christmas.

Hey Denny you are always welcome to grab a seat on my boat when I go out. Always more enjoyable to share the lake with a fellow angler. The bite has been a bit slower lately at Offut the last 2 trips but it has been a generally good fall/winter trout lake for me and others. I like to head out to Nahwatzel in Mason County too.
