The fishing was frustrating today. We ran three lines, varying depth from 20 ft to 65 ft. We used herring and dodgers, trolled at 2-2 1/2 mph. The fish were willing - we got many bites - but we couldn't get a hook set. The bait came back with slash marks, some really ripped up, but no fish found the hook. Checked the hooks - plenty sharp. We saw fish being caught, although not in great numbers. The fog rolled in around 10 am, and visibility dropped to less than 100 yards. Thank goodness for GPS, arrived right at the Shilshole breakwater at 11:30 and pulled our pots. At least we brought back 1/2 dozen nice Dungeness keepers.
